Federal Investigation into BAPS Case Concludes with No Findings of Wrongdoing

Robbinsville, NJ – September 18, 2025 – The Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha, Inc. (BAPS) announced today that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has officially closed its investigation into the organization and its affiliates, with no findings of wrongdoing.

The DOJ investigation, which began following a widely publicized 2021 raid at the BAPS Mandir in Robbinsville, New Jersey, had been cited as the reason for a federal court order staying civil litigation filed the same year. The lawsuit, filed by a group of plaintiffs in May 2021, alleged violations under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and related claims.

In a letter filed with the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey on September 18, 2025, counsel for BAPS confirmed that federal authorities informed them on September 15 and 16, 2025, that the DOJ has closed its investigation into BAPS, its affiliated entities, and individuals named as defendants.

“This development brings to an end more than four years of uncertainty created by an investigation that generated headlines but has now concluded without any findings against BAPS or its affiliates,” said a spokesperson for BAPS. “We have always maintained that the allegations against us were unfounded, and today’s outcome validates that position. We remain committed to our spiritual and humanitarian mission, serving communities across the United States and around the world.”

With the DOJ investigation now closed, the court-ordered stay of the civil action no longer applies. Counsel for BAPS has indicated they will work with plaintiffs’ counsel and the Court to determine next steps in the litigation.

The allegations against BAPS shrouded in the false caste theories, were used to attack not ust BAPS but also the entire Hindu Community. The resting of this case is a great win for our community that has rejected the false allegations of caste in the USA, says a CasteFiles Spokesperson.
